A magnetic coil is an electrical coil made of insulated copper (or alternative) wire that generates a magnetic field when current flows through it.
It is used in numerous industrial applications – for example, in sensors, valves, actuators, electromagnets, and inductive measuring systems.
The type of winding, the coil housing and the core (magnetic or non-magnetic) allow the magnetic field to be specifically controlled and optimised for the application.

Both coil types generate magnetic fields, but differ in their design and application:

• Magnetic field coils are mostly used to generate precise, homogeneous magnetic fields for measurements or experiments.
• Electromagnet coils are designed for moving or force-transmitting applications, e.g. in actuators, valves or grippers.
